Emerald Ash Borer Info

As you are likely aware, the Emerald Ash Borer has been found in the St Charles area. We have received calls on this issue and understand your concerns. In Michigan our arborists have been addressing this problem for many years, and until recently they were battling the state’s tree cutting eradication policy. Currently Michigan and Indiana do not have an eradication policy; rather they allow the professional arborist and the property owner to determine what prevention tactic might be best. The state of Illinois has cautiously chosen to complete their evaluation of the extent of the infestation before setting a policy.

Educate

To help you make informed decisions and educate your customers on the Emerald Ash Borer, consider the following:

  1. Take inventory of your ash trees;
  2. Let us take care of them by closely watching the state’s policy and preparing control strategies

Plan for EAB Control

If EAB is located near to your client’s neighborhood, consider chemical control options.

  • Ash trees < 4” diameter – Soil drench Quail-Pro Imidicloprid
  • Ash trees > 4” diameter – trunk inject Mauget Imicide.

If EAB is attacking your client’s tree, or nearby trees:

  • Trunk inject with Mauget Infect-A-Cide “B’ the first year.
